Supervision is where safeguarding judgement is tested and strengthened. PMH trains supervisors to lead reflective, challenging conversations that result in sound, defensible decisions.
The challenge
When supervision becomes a box to tick
A signed supervision record does not mean a decision was examined.
In many organisations, safeguarding supervision has become a routine meeting: a caseload is listed, a form is signed and the session ends. The difficult questions about risk, judgement and escalation are not asked.
Organisations pay for this in missed cases, and in staff who cannot explain the decisions they made when a review, an inspector or a court asks them to.
PMH safeguarding supervision training develops supervisors who create space for reflection, test reasoning and record decisions that can be defended. It connects supervision to the wider governance described in our Governance to Frontline™ model, so what happens in a supervision session is visible to those accountable for safeguarding.
